We have a Cochin Bantam rooster who turned up with a hurt leg a week or so ago. Originally he was limping around, walking on the top of the foot and I did even see him use the hurt leg to scratch in the dirt. He is still eating, drinking, ranging around with his girls - but he seems to have less use of the leg this week.

The video is kind of bad but you get the idea. When I feel all over his foot and leg he doesn't fidgit or fuss & again, he still ranges around and eats and drinks - so I get no signs that he is in pain. But I am at a loss as to what to do for him. I don't feel any breaks on his foot, leg - which leads me to believe he may have dislocated the hip joint? Is there anything I can do for him?

He may have just damaged some connective tissue. If he is still doing well and eating, drinking, and foraging normally he`ll be fine. If he is in severe pain I would suggest putting him down for his own good. But if he is doing what you say he isnt in much pain. chickens are very resilient animals. I had a chicken somehow get caught in chain link and break her leg. I took a pop sickle stick and made a splint and even while it was still broken she would scratch with it. It healed after some time and she was fine. Another totally broke her toe and bent it around backwards and she was fine. lived the rest of her days just fine. So keep an eye on him. He should be okay
