Rooster with broken "hock"

I noticed him standing funny, so I picked him and felt the leg. His leg not only goes front/back, it is also moving side/side! It feels like the cartilage is broken (or the bone in the joint?). I don't think it involves the long bones... Will this type of injury heal? He is walking on it fine, but when he stands still, his leg doesn't stay straight. He also almost falls over backwards sometimes.

I had a RIR rooster with a broken leg once. He favored it and it healed fine on its own. It may be the ligaments are torn, in which case the prognosis is probably poorer. Is it completely out of joint?

It's hard to tell. When I moved the joint it feels very loose (unlike his good leg). Oddly enough, He does put weight on it and doesn't limp.
