Rooster with leg injury, not sure what to do

One of my roosters has a possible leg injury. I’m not too sure what it could be as there is no obvious signs of a break or slipped tendon. He is able to move around but it’s almost like a crawling motion. Whenever I try to move his leg, the leg is responsive, but won’t bear weight. Whenever he isn’t moving he is sitting on his hocks. It seems more like a hip issue because it’s almost like he can’t support himself on that leg. One of my biggest worries is Mareks. I can get a photo of him and the leg tomorrow for more information.

If you can provide photos they may be helpful. A video of his movements can also provide some insight. Upload videos to youtube and provide a link.

More information is always helpful. How old is your rooster, what do you feed, including treats?
Any lice/mites, is he the only rooster, could he have been in a fight?
Any signs of lesions or scabs on the bottom of the feet or toes?

It sounds like his mobility is limited, so I would move him to a secure area so he's protected. See that he's able to reach food/water and is eating/drinking.

We have decided to take him to a vet near us as thats probably the best option for him thank you for your help!!

Glad that you can see a vet. Walking on hocks can be a symptom of a riboflavin (vitamin B 2) deficiency, an injury, and is sometimes seen in Mareks. Mareks can only be diagnosed with blood test at a special lab that does pcr testing, or with a necropsy after death. I would first try giving him 1/2 of a human super B complex tablet daily into his beak or in a small amount of food or egg, and treat for at least a couple of weeks to see if there is improvement. The pictures could help. Let us know what the vet has to say.
