Rooster with broken toes?

I just found out my new hen I got a couple of weeks ago has a broken toe. It must have happened when her previous owner had her because she's got really long nails! I noticed her staying off from the other hens and not eating with any of them. I captured her today, checked her out and sure enough, her middle toe is broken. I did splint it and have her inside to rest it. I hope it heals, but who knows how long it's been broken. I don't know how long to keep the splint on tho?!
Any ideas?
