Hello, I live near Dallas and rescued a sweetheart rooster (my first rooster ever). I named him Martino and we're really good friends. I was told that he was born with a tumor in his left eye but come to find out, he has a bad case of Coryza. He has taken three doxycycline injections and is now on the oral suspension (because I can't afford anymore visits with the certified avian vet). I put the antibiotic in his water and a little inside his blueberries. This seems to be working somewhat.

Thanks to this sub, I came across an instructional video on how to remove the puss from the bulging left eye. Which the treatment won't make go away.

My question is - how can I get this stuff removed from his eye without having to drive him two hours to the vet? He's a grown rooster and not a chick, like the ones in the instructional video, so I can't do it alone and I have no help at the moment. Who can I ask for help? Is anyone on here local and with an idea on how to solve this that I haven't thought of?

Can you post photos of his eye and of him?

How long has he had a bulging eye?

He was tested for Infectious Coryza? Does he have a bad odor? Any other respiratory symptoms?

To work on the eye, wrap him in a towel like a burrito to capture his wings and legs. Make sure he can breath o.k.
Doesn't make a lot of difference on the size of the bird, once they are swaddled/burritoed, they are easy to handle by yourself.
