Hi all,

Today my rooster has a droopy tail and takes any chance to it down and rest. Still eating and drinking normal. It’s not cocci, going to check for lice and mites. The rest of the flock are fine. Has anyone experienced this or know what might be wrong?

Do you have other roosters? Could he be molting, when they may be vulnerable to bullying and illness? It would be impossible to rule out coccidiosis or worms unless you do a fecal float on some fresh droppings. Blood may only be seen in a couple of strains of coccidiosis. Poop pictures might help. Make sure that he is drinking, and electrolytes with vitamins, or Poultry NutriDrench 3 ml daily given orally might help. Adding water to a little feed can get more water into him.

How wide is the collar. I bought an eBay one and it was no where near wide enough and didn’t do anything. I bought some Velcro by the metre on eBay and made my own. It’s 5cm wide and covers most of his neck.

The tightness you are describing is correct. I can just fit the tip of my pointer finger in if I wiggle and jiggle it.
Please post a photo of your rooster from Today and of his poop.

Looking at your history, you have a Collar on a rooster - is this the rooster that is not well or a different one?
If it's on the sick rooster, I suggest you take the collar off immediately. What is the reason for the collar? Are you allowed to have roosters where you live?

Check his crop, make sure it's emptying overnight. See that he's eating/drinking o.k.

How long have you had him and how long has he been on the ground/in the run that you have him in?
What do you feed including treats? Do you provide grit (crushed granite) for your flock?

You mention it's Not Cocci - did your vet perform a fecal float to rule out Coccidiosis?

It’s not cocci. Drinking and eating are normal. Checked for lice and mites but treated him for it anyway. Starting worming treatment tomorrow. No other roosters in with him. There is a rooster in the next pen though.

Different rooster with the collar. He I had only been with us for about a week

Sounds like you're covering all the basics. I hope he starts to improve.
If not, then I suggest that you seek Vet Care for some testing/diagnostics.
Yeah I will. Im super curious about what’s wrong because I’ve read a few peoples posts where they have a droopy tail and lethargic but everything else is fine. Later they either die or completely fine but no one seems to know why.
