Rooster with eye problem, can anybody help? See photo please

Where did you get him? Awwww so young to be sick too!!! Any info, as much as you can give would help everyone help him!

I bought him along with some Wheaten hens from Kat LaDue, of Signature Feathers (http://www.signaturefeathers.com/) She has been breeding Wheatens for more than ten years.

Have you contacted them yet? They may have seen this before in this breed. It may be breed specific. I would try that and please, feel free to keep asking everyone here as many questions as you need!!!! You also might try the breed specific threads...I don't know if they have Wheatens? But worth a try..they may know more about this breed also...and maybe seen something similar? I wish I could help more, but really haven't dealt with any eye problems before.

You can treat for a respiratory infection, if for nothing else, but to rule that out....or maybe it will cover whatever is worng...but I would also encourage you to read that link Eggcessive gave you...it has some good info on there!

Good question, Mithious. I will find out about Marek's, tho it does not look like any of the Marek's photos I have seen..

You have said this a LOT...do see a lot of respiratory diseases in your flock? That would be very suspect to me, since you have that chicken with mareks????? and you seem to know a awful lot about this antibiotic Tylan...how many of your bantams have had respiratory diseases?

None of my bantams have had respiratory diseases. I say this a lot because I KNOW a lot about it. I love my chickens, and read a lot about diseases, etc.

Thank you, Wyandottes7. I am headed to the farm store tomorrow. I will see if I can get the Tylan. Also I thought I might pick up some VetRx. It sounds like it's good for respiratory problems.

You are welcome! Yes, VetRX can be good for respiratory diseases, though it doesn't always work as well as antibiotics. It wouldn't hurt to try, certainly.
