Ok So I have this old inherited banty rooster. Anyhoo I'm pretty sure its scaly leg mites. His legs are really puffy and flaky. The second problem is he apparently had fishing line wrapped around his leg. Its been there for awhile because it dug in. I cut it off and there is still live flesh in side. My question is how do I go about treating him for these things? I've read about vaseline for the leg mites. My plan is to this evening soak his leg in some warm soapy water and try to clean it up. Then put some neosporin or something on it. Should I wait to treat for the leg mites? Should I wrap the open wound? Any input is appriciated.
