I had to put my little rooster down today and I have no idea what was wrong with him. About a week ago he looked a little not his usual self. Not really sick, just not as chipper as usual. Next morning he was limping a little, following day his foot was paralysed and it rolled under him when he tried putting weight on it. Today his whole leg was paralysed and he wasn't moving at all, yet still had a healthy appetite. I examimed him thoroughly and couldn't find any torn skin or bite wounds. I couldn't let it go on.
Has anyone had any experiences like this? I'm thinking if he dislocated his leg jumping off the perch or something it would have been immediately obvious, not gradual. If it was a virus or similar he wouldn't have been clear eyed and hungry. If it was a snake bite surely I'd have found and entry wound. A spider bite perhaps? Any ideas?
