I have a rooster like this right now. I didn’t take him to the vet but I’ve kept him inside all winter cleaning the wound, applying antibiotic ointment and petroleum jelly. I even done 2 rounds of antibiotics and Monistat and it’s still getting worse. He does start feeling better when he is on the antibiotics but when they are gone he is still leaking

Did your rooster ever heal and did the vet say what could have caused this?
I have a rooster with a necrotic prolapsed vent just like this. I’ve kept him inside all winter cleaning, applying antibiotic ointment and Vaseline. I have even given two rounds of antibiotics and Monistat and he is still getting worse. He does feel better when he is on the antibiotics, but when the antibiotics are gone, he is still leaking urates from his prolapse vent and I can only assume infection returns. He has been this way for months now and I don’t know how else to help him or if it can even heal.
