I just butchered some of my 4 1/2 month old Dark Cornish roosters. Surprisingly, I found that one of my roosters had two testicles! I'm new to butchering, just started about 6 years ago, so it was surprising enough to discover that the birds only had one. Has anybody else seen this? Was this bird a freak? I skinned them all and put them in a bucket to bring in the house to finish, but I seem to remember that one of them was more developed than the other four with obvious waddles and such. I'm interested in your experiences and opinions.

Mine always have two

. Sometimes they're tiny and easy to miss unless you're keeping a close eye out.

Male birds have two testes. Female birds start with two ovaries while still in the egg, but only one grows to full size and starts producing yolks. The other ovary just doesn't develop at all.

All my Orpington and White Rock roosters had two. Some bigger than others, but hey, don't judge.
