Rooster won't crow in front of me

Nella, sounds like a good roo to have. You want them to consider you the top roo and behave as they would if there were an actual alpha roo in the flock. Stepping out of your way, not crowing, etc.

That's what I am hoping for. After the Evil Rooster experience (he would drop the wing and dance at me, attack my ankles, bit me in the hand multiple times, lunge at me reaching for him, crow at me and keep his girl away from me, etc.....all the way to the barbeque!).

This rooster seems to have a very healthy respect so far. Not great with the girls but he is still maturing and doing a bit better....he will "stand up" to the girls he does not like if they come running at the girls he does like. But he gets the heck out of dodge if I come towards him, even leaving his girls behind to head for the hills.

The only time I catch him giving me the evil eye or staring is usually if I am kneeling down or squatting doing something. Then I just stand up (he might be 2 feet tall but I am 5 and a half, darn it) and stare back and if he does not back down, walk towards him. He always backs down then.

I like to think that I am handing off the flock to him when I leave.....and then he better give it back when I return.
