Our 4 year old White Leghorn rooster is lethargic, refusing to eat anything and has not crowed in days. His poop is watery yellow and green. His vent feathers were really dirty yesterday but we cleaned most of it off. Also he has some weird hardened yellow substance coming from his beak. I tried feeding him wet bread & eggs but he is refusing to eat it. He did peck at some scratch yesterday and today but barely ate any. I'm probably going to force something down him with a syringe tomorrow when I find/get one. Was walking around the yard today but laying around more. We gave him some corid in water which he drank a little bit of, not sure if it helps or not. However it's been really hot and I don't think it's enough. Any advice/tips would be much appreciated.

On a separate note: he does not live with the white leghorn hen I posted about with possible water belly/egg yolk perionitis so there's no spreading/infection between them as far as I'm aware

Also - the corn/grains in his poop are not part of his poop, it's just the scratch he spilled as I was taking pictures

I think he’s doing slightly better, ate some and drank some today. Crowed on Wednesday but hasn’t since - and usually he’s crowing every five minutes. Must’ve pooped somewhere as his vent feathers are soiled again, will clean him again tomorrow

Crop was flat this morning from not eating but now it’s got some food in it and is squishy

Sorry about the bad lighting in the picture, it’s getting dark and he was not cooperating

I don't see any weird yellow stuff coming from the beak, has that resolved?

Consider deworming him and getting him on an antibiotic.
Amoxicillin is a good choice, you'll have to order it online.

For deworming, you can use Safeguard Goat dewormer. Dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally once daily for 5 days in a row.

Sorry I meant his nostril not his beak. And yes it's resolved, it was just dirty and I overreacted. Sorry for the confusion!

Thanks for the advice. We have some dewormer on hand and I'll give him some. I will get him on some antibiotics too, how long should he take them for?

Depends on the product you order and will use.

A lot of times the instructions on the package, but if not, let me know what you have and I'll try to help you.
It's been a few days and he's doing a lot better and eating/drinking like almost normal. However I noticed in the last few days he can't seem to walk right. He's kind of shuffling along with his feet and wings. Mostly just sits around. Not exactly lethargic, has the energy to fight my shoes all the time. Still not crowing either. Saw some strange red spots on his legs - are they bruises? Most on his left leg but some on his right toes too. Does not appear to have any broken bones. Is there anything I can do about them?
