Rooster

I raise my cockerels the same as bobbi-j; they must respect my space and move out of my way. Some cockerels are polite all the time, some take a little effort, and some are idiots who attack the giants who bring food every day. These last birds get invited to dinner! A bird who attacks people is dangerous and needs to go, before someone is hurt.

lol. I completely agree thx.

Young cockerels are really immature and naughty, as they grow into adults, they'll become more polite usually. You can hook your boot under his chest and gently push him off and when he lands come toward him briskly like you have been doing. Do not let him get even the slightest idea that he's in charge because he will grab for the opportunity and you won't ever get back the same respect. I learned the hard way! But I still love my rooster. :)

Awesome! Mottled cochins are on my chicken wish list but have never gotten around to raising any! I do have a mottled java hen, and she's a real sweetheart, but they're just not the same:(
The cochins are definitely more adorable with their feathered feet and round bodies.

Awesome tips! I went searching, because my 6mo buff orpington roo just recently started attacking me when I’m in their run and walking away. But today it was when I was letting the chick who always flies out, back in, he went straight at me. So I just mimicked his steppy dance his does to the girls, seemed to work a little but he was still trying to fight. So good to know, I’ll keep walking towards him until he turns his back.
He was so sweet as a tiny guy, but with him maturing he sure is an annoying, tough guy teen! I don’t want him to be a jerk.
