Hi I’m just wondering if this is actually a rooster (and not a hen as we were told) I’ve been out to check on them this morning as usual and noticed feathers everywhere and a bit lump of skin missing near my hens eye then she turned around and it looks like her other eye is missing 😭😭so im wondering if this is a rooster and he’s attacked her

Roosters usually do NOT attack hens.
Look for some kind of predator, and a spot where the predator could reach in or squeeze into the pen.

At 20 weeks, the bird in your photo looks like a pullet who should lay eggs soon.

Thank you for replying we can’t see anywhere where anything could get it , only predators around would be cats, rats , mice , fox maybe but there’s no holes or damage to the coop at all but it’s always a possibility

Any chance a cat could reach its paw in through a hole?
Or a rat or mouse get in?

I suppose it's possible for one chicken to peck out another chicken's eye, but it would be very unusual, which is why I suggest a thorough search for any little spot a predator could get access. If it happened at night, especially check the areas close to where the chickens sleep.

Chickens pulling feathers from other chickens is moderately common. But even if the one chicken did it to the other chicken, I do not think you have a rooster. Hens can be mean to each other too, and your bird looks female.

Thank you so much my partner is out there now having a good through search to check for any spots where a predator could get in
