Rooster?

Newbie question WARNING

Do meat birds have to be hens/pullets? Or can Roosters do well as meat birds if their breed is dual purpose? Also, what age is best for processing? Thanks again.

All of my meat birds are roosters, they are Cornish X though so the time to slaughter is very short, 8 weeks.

You can eat just about any chicken, be it male or female, right around 22 weeks should be good for a standard breed.

What about 1 year old roosters? How would you cook them?

Would you make dog food out of them? The roosters, one is about 10 pounds, the other about 8 pounds.....

I bet they would taste fine, maybe a little tough is all. Slow cook!
