Meet Pat... Rooster or Hen?

looks like a hen to me!

i'm going to say hen....what is her age?

Pat is around 5 months old now.

She is protective of the flock (5 total chickens) and has begun making some interesting "sounds" when I walk outside. While not a cock-a-doodle-do, Pat is definitely the loudest of the chickens. Is that normal for a hen?

At 5 months, I say hen and close to laying.

I don't know if there's any facts out there to back me up, but I noticed that my hens' combs went through a growth spurt right before they started laying.
