Hi I have been reading BYC for a short while as I am new to chickens. Boy people do not know what they are missing that do not have chickens. Anyway I have 5 hens (4 javas and 1 Icelandic) and one icelandic rooster. They may start laying sometime in September. My rooster has just started crowing like crazy. He starts at 5 AM and keeps going until the sun goes down. It seemed that throughout the day he would crow if something upset him but now he just crows for no reason. I am thinking he may start to get on my neighbors' nerves. I may be naive but really thought he would crow for a reason. Any thougths on how I may make him feel more secure? BTW I have been handling them daily since I got them.
