We just lost our three Maran Roosters.

We felt a lot more comfortable with our "head rooster" keeping an eye on the gals. Now he is gone we are sort of at a loss...

We would like to get one more rooster to be our protector, but I am not sure what breed to go with. What are your experiences with different breeds of roosters and their temperaments? I know every chicken has his own personality, but I was hoping someone had good overall luck with a certain breed. Our head rooster was extremely protective and

No one breed is tried and true. You will have to make your own choice and then see what you get.

Thanks! The real loss was our main rooster. Replacing him in personality and beauty is going to be rough.
