I have 2 Silkies who are 13 and 1/2 weeks old who I am still not positively sure the gender of. Do roosters have bumps on the back of their leg called spurs? Today I found a little bump on my blue Silkie a little pointy at the end. I heard all roosters have these and was wondering if hens sometimes get them to. Also they were out in the yard and I noticed the 2 Silkies would stare at each other and then flap their wings and chest bump each other. After this my blue Silkie would chase my other Silkie. Do all chickens do this or is this a rooster thing? This is the first time I have seen them do this so I hope they aren't turning out to be roosters and I hope they are both hens!

Well all chickens have spurs, if you try hard enough you can find spur buds on chicks.
Hens can and will get long spurs, but typically are no more then a pointy bump.
The chest bumping is a dominance thing, found in both hens and roosters.
They could both be dominant hens and not want to be subdominant (we had 2 hens like this, gave the other one to a friend who just got her chickens and had 3 Roos... That hen made a wuss outta those Roos! Haha), though that doesn't often happen in chickens.
Unless they start crowing or getting large combs / wattles, I wouldn't worry about it

Ok thanks! I hope they are both hens! I am not a chicken expert so....... I will just have to wait to see if they start crowing. Thanks for all the help!
