can a rooster also lay eggs my rooster makes strange noises for a while and twice when i was out there he was in the nesting box and when done he got up off a egg was it him or what is he doing??

No, your rooster can't lay eggs.

I've noticed our boys like to hang out in the nest boxes on occasion and make funny noises, too, but they aren't gonna lay an egg unless it's actually a pullet or hen.

You could have a hen that makes noises like a Roo.

Roos like to make cooing sounds to the hens and let them know they have found a nesting sight.
