I am not really interested in fertile eggs, so I have kept the boys in a separate pen. That said, one time I did have them mixed in, and egg production fell, a lot. Is this normal? Would egg production go back up if I had waited longer?
As for roosters versus humans, mine have always run from me. Did have one very big Orpington that pecked a Red Ranger rooster to the point that the bird's head was cocked to one side, and the poor bird could neither walk in a straight line, nor forward. He did finally die. Right now, I have 2 RIR roosters, but they are in separate pens.

I have pretty steady egg production and I have two roosters. Maybe if you waited a bit longer your egg production would've gone back up.

How many hens/pullets do you have?

Did you change your mind and want fertile eggs so added the male to the females pen?

Yes, adding a new bird causes stress which affects laying. How old are these birds?

Waited longer to add the male?
How long was he in there...or did you take him back out?
