Roosters and Puberty: a general question

Very beautiful birds and photos! My roo, still young, has rapidly mellowed out. We had to work through a bit of aggression using the techniques posted on BYC. I notice that he crows most when I have visitors (the show-off).

we got our first chickens in April, and currently have 3 roosters and 7 hens. trust me, this was not our intention. when they first learned to crow, they had crow battles frequently throughout the day, but it has significantly dropped. if one roo gets separated from the flock, they may echo-locate each other for a while, but with only one roo, you won't have that problem. as traumatic as it was watching his awkward mating attempts, take comfort in the knowledge that soon he will be expert and the ladies will be upset when he falls off, as I witnessed just this morning. I just started getting eggs this week, so to give the girls a little break from "courting" threw the roosters out and let them have the coop for a few hours to themselves. good luck with your handsome fella

forgot to say that my pet roo who is very attached to me, had a few days where he seemed to think my foot looked...um..."attractive", and therefore took to pinching me with his beak. he got over it quickly though, so if your baby starts showing interest like this in you, please be patient and don't assume he is attacking you.
