Hi.
Has anyone used a rooster collar? I have bought one, and put it on Greystoke. He didn't mind it at all. I felt quite wary about it because I don't want to hurt him. He doesn't scratch at it or shake his head. He still crows, but not as loud. I really want to keep him, he is beautiful. And lovely natured. He has worn it for one and a half weeks now, with no visible signs of harm to his neck or feathers. If It harmed him I would immediately remove it. Does anyone use the collar? As I can not keep roosters in my area, which irritates me no end, because we are two streets away from farms with multiple roosters, cows and everything on two or four legs. And I can hear the roos. I just have a problem with this one neighbour, who hates animals. He really does. Everything is regimental in his garden, without a blade of grass out of place. He reports me for everything. As Greystoke is not showing any signs of stress or suffereing with the collar. Do you think its okay to use it? Or am I going to be shot down in flames for using one.

I find rooster collars to be a fine solution. I haven't used one myself, though I plan to soon, so I can hold an informed opinion of them... but the biggest issue I have heard is that it fails to lower the volume or frequency of crowing.

But if you ask me, any solution that keeps them out of the stew pot is a good solution in my book.

Yes, keeping them out of the pot, I really don't want to put him in one. I think its about correct positioning and having it tight enough so he cant get that big breath of air. My son came in to see me and said I think Grey is dead, so we rushed up to the coup, he was eating, just not doing his usual loud cock a doodle doo.
It is supposed to go on the lower part of the neck. The one I bought here, I was told to put it high up on the neck. It didn't work when high up.
