I have tree roos and twelve hen, I've noticed lately that the roos aren't vocalizing as much as before. Any concerns or something I should be doing differently? Or should I be happy and assume they are content? Thanks in advance for the help!

Don’t know much about roosters as I probably should. I only have one now. There are some mornings he just doesn’t grow sometimes it will be days sometimes it will just be one day. When I don’t hear them crow I do think it’s a little strange but doesn’t concern me Muchanymore. How long is it been?

Roosters crow to:
Let other roosters/the world know he’s around
When frightened or startled
As a vocal challenge (if he hears you singing or shouting)

So if he doesn’t crow he:
Does not feel the need to challenge other roosters
Is content and at peace
All is quiet

There could be possibly a health reason but most likely not.

I did notice when my rooster doesn’t crow I don’t hear the two other roosters through the woods crow either. The challenge thing makes a lot of sense when I think about it now.

probably a week or a bit more....

I wouldn’t be too concerned then yet.Like Abrians said maybe he just doesn’t feel the need. I noticed with mine takes his little break it’s usually when it’s cold. I guess I can’t blame him I’m frozen to. If you don’t mind me asking what kind of rooster? I love roosters but mine wouldn’t get along with another one so I can only have one They’re just Eye candy but I do love them

The only quiet rooster that I know of is from this breed
Gallus grilicus rosemarinus
