Rooster's being helpful in a weird way

I have a bunch of young roosters (they're about 15 weeks). Well, there are four of them, three bantam types and one leghorn. My husband and I were butchering cornish crosses. We had put the cornishes into a separate shelter for the last 24 hours and we were pulling them out of the shelter and butchering them. The roosters were close by, watching us and making noises and following us around as we did this. They didn't do anything aggressive, but their extremely attentive behavior had us a little worried. Anyway, so the last cornish got out of my hands by accident and started to run- our rooster gang sort of tackled it and pinned it down to the ground! And when my husband went to grab the cornish that got away, all four of these roosters backed up and let him do it, and the cornish stayed down on the ground in the same position is was pinned in.

So, our roosters were literally extremely helpful! It's interesting- we brooded this group of cornishes separately from the rest of the chickens, and although after they got old enough they were allowed to roam with everyone else, they never really grouped with the main flock. I wonder if this is why our roosters sort of "helped".
