Roosters eating layer food????

I have 12 hens that are about to start laying so I have started feeding layer as their feed. What will this do, if anything, to my 3 roosters?

Will the extra calcium be harmful or helpful?

Nah they are fine. It has longterm effects but hes fine for 3 years or so....................

They do not hold the calcium so do not worry. Mine eats layer plus egg shells. No problems it does not build up like iron in men.

I have read it is bad for their livers. I often feed flock raiser and oyster on the side for this reason. Don't know how long it takes to actually cause a problem.

Mine have been eating it for 6 years now and no noticable side effects.

roosters & hens all eat same feeds here..layer & cracked corn..have never had any problems...my 14 yr old roo died few months ago..he ferilized eggs until his death...so i guess either i had gotten lucky...or long term effects was just humor.

My roosters eat the same layer feed that my hens eat.
