The top of my roosters feet have been bright red and raw for weeks and I’m not sure what the cause is. I’ve been treating his feet with betadine and covering them in Vaseline (in case of mites). He lives with 15 hens and all of their feet are normal. Any ideas of what I can do to treat this?

This looks as if the feather follicles got infected with the pinfeathers coming in and getting stuck. Happens quite often with breeds that have heavily feathered legs and feet.
I would treat him with antibiotics and additional Blue Kote spray as this seems too far gone for just a topical therapy.

And please, trim his claws as they are much too long and lead to twisted toes.
