So we have 6 known roosters and need to cut that by 4-5... We would like to concentrate on Cochins at the moment so looking to likely just keep Westley the black cochin. What do you all think of the others? Should we keep for any purpose? or just dump em as pets at the next swap?
I have read that you need different roosters for different feather patterns and colors and what not. New to this so just don't want to dump a good rooster if I shouldn't. The Jungle fowl and Aseel look similar, but the first one is a Jungle fowl. All of these are less than 1yr old. What are your thoughts?

They all look gorgeous and well cared for! :woot

I would say which ones you keep depends on your preference... ;)

If you want to breed just Cochins though, you won't need extra roosters... unless you want beautiful, feathery yard decorations. :p

Just make sure the ones you don't want go to nice homes! :D

If you want to concentrate on Cochins then keep the one Cochin cockerel and eat or sell the others. Cross breeding to other breeds will only result in undesirable traits that have to be bred out such as wrong skin color, comb type, crests, muffs/beards, earlobe and egg color, body type and the list goes on.

Thank you, that is what I needed to know. Unfortunately im thinking that our big black cochin is likely a giant hen... but ill check at the swap this weekend for some cochins. Thanks again for the help,
