I have two roosters, one is a nine month old sliver laced wyandotte and a eight month old buff orpington with eleven hens.
The silver laced has always been the boss, and i have never noticed them to fight except to nock one another off a hen. They have
a fenced in area to rome around in all day. Well after i came home from work today i check on them like i always do, my buff orpington
was standing at the gate with the hens like they always do waiting for their evening scratch treat, i noticed my buff roosters comb was
bloody. My silver laced rooster was keeping his distance, but finally came around after the buff rooster was not around.
The silver laced roosters comb and wattles were bloody as well, and i noticed a couple of times the buff rooster would chase the silver
laced rooster away. Well i hung around with all of them to keep the piece untill roost time. The silver laced roo is usually the last to go in the house and work his way up to the top roost with the buff roo, but tonight he sat on the bottom roost by himself.
Both roos were eating, drinking and crowing. But i think we have another boss in charge and hope they have worked this out.
Has anyone had this problem with two or more roosters together, and do ya'll think they will work it out or will i have to seperate them.

I have several roos in together and once they got the pecking order down. They are fine. They do still have tiffs once in awhile, but no major fights. I think they will be fine.

If they were raised together as chicks from day one, normally they would be used to each other when they get older. The dominant male would be in charge and the lesser roo would know his place in the pecking order and probably not challange the dominate roo, there wouldnt be any serious fights. I had a RIR and White Rock roos grow up together from day one and I never saw them fight once. I did observe that the White Rock was the lesser roo. The RIR had first choice with hens too and there were no fights neither. The only competition they had was when one of them would crow, the other would crow shortly thereafter. In your case,I think it would be wise to seperate your roos,it'll get worse.Once they're seperated,I'd never let them get together again, the inevitable would happen sooner rather than later.

I have 6 roos at the moment. 2 in one coop and 4 in the other. In the coop with 2 I have one Blue Andalusian and a Columbian Wyandotte. The CW is really laid back and doesn't challenge the BA... In the other coop two of the roos are content with being low men on the totem pole but from time to time the BO and the Australorp get into it--- nothing serious but the have both drawn blood--- I just keep an eye on them--- no serious wounds. I will be taking two out of the second coop and putting them in a third which is being built as we speak--- hopefully finished and in place by mid April. I think it really just depends on the breed and disposition of the roos--- some of that is to be expected but if someone is starting to get real beat up you might have to separate them temporarily and see what happens. I would put a cage in side the run so they can see each other but not get to each other.

We very well may have a new Sherriff in the henhouse!

As a wise man once told me, "The sun doesn't shine on the sames dog's a** every day!"

I bought the buff orpington rooster and hens when they were two weeks old. When they were three months old, i found a guy that was moving and had to get rid of his chickens and i bought from him a four month old silver laced wyandotte rooster and hen, rir hen,
a barred rock hen. And they have been together since with no problems untill today.
