I'm a total newbie to raising chickens.

I got 8 road island red chicks in the spring, son built a coop, think I have 5 roosters & 3 hens

They're in the coop at night and roam the yard in the day.

Anyway, one of the roosters is being beat up by the 'alpha' rooster and a hen (at least); two days now.

I've kept the one in an isolation cage for the last 2 nights but during the day, the others chase him into the shed and he stay's there all day without eating or drinking.

So what to do during the day and for how long, then what?

Sorry this must seem trivial but I just don't know what to do.

You need to either build a boys-only coop, rehome 4 of the roos or turn them into soup.

It's only going to get worse.

Too many roo's. It gets pretty bad. I culled all but 2 out of 9 roos only had 8 hens. The 2 that are left will soon be gone too. One is attacking the other. So they will go. I will have Black Giant Jersey.
