the pictures of the speckled sussex are 2 different birds they are 13 weeks old. The barred rocks are 11 weeks old. Out of 15 chicks this year I know that my easter egger is a rooster he is crowing like crazy and he is 11 weeks old.
But i am thinking that these three may be roosters. I am looking at the tails and they just don't look like hen tails. the lighter barred rock is the one that I am not sure of. Shouldn't they be crowing if they are roosters the easter egger started crowing at 8 weeks old and he is sooo loud.
Thanks for any help :)

The speckled Sussex are all cockerels. Not a definitive picture of the barred rock, but the light coloration leads me to think that he is also a cockerel. As far as the crowing, some just mature more rapidly than others.

At 11 weeks old, the Speckled Sussexs and the lighter barred Rock are cockerels. Most cockerels start crowing between 3 to 6 months old. Some crow much earlier, and some don't crow until after 8 months old.

I agree with both of the above posts. On rare occasions, cockerels will not start crowing until they are nearly a year old.
