Depends on who you ask. But there's tons of uninformed folk out in the world that have only heard of roosters being mean, & believing that as the only truth, when there's way more friendly roosters that exist, then mean ones.im sad that roosters have so little of a good reputation

Yes roosters do get a bad reputation mainly because they are too rambunctious when they are young
I love your rooster he looks kind and firmYes roosters do get a bad reputation mainly because they are too rambunctious when they are young
and can be very disruptive to the flock. Most roosters when mature settle down and become a very
good asset to open range flocks. After that said if you have a mean rooster that attacks you or you can’t
turn your back to it get rid of it. Rhode Island Red roosters may have the worst reputations in the chicken world but the ones I have are friendly and will come when call them and will gently take food
from your hand and I have never hatched a mean one and when my baby chickens go from the brooder
to the outside open top pens I put the brood cock with them and they have never lost a chick yet.
Before I would lose some too hawks. I have a blue rooster that I produced from my flock and has been
calm and gentle with the hens even when he was young. All I can tell you about this rooster is he is heavy in Blue Australorp and when I cross him to my Rhode Island Reds I get a fantastic hybrid offspring.
