Roosters Silence in the Morning?

We looked into de-crowing. We decided against it. From our research, it is pretty risky putting chickens under, they still crow, just not as loud and here, if you could find a vet to do it cost a fair amount.

That's why we have opted for the "low roof, dark, sound deadening night time male enclosure device". I read about people keeping them in garages and all sorts, anything to delay the early crow. I think once the neighbors are up it's not an issue, but 5 am or so will be for us.

My favorite birds are roosters and I have several. Mine start crowing around 5 am, unless its a full moon, then they can go all night. While I enjoy the sound of the country, I know that some people don't. My friend puts her roo in a night box, then locks him in the shed. Problem solved.
She is adamant that it doesn't bother him. She throws in a treat, and in he goes. Who knows, some of your elderly neighbor 's may find it reminiscent of their younger days. Talk to them.
