hello all, it's been a while since I have been around. I just inherited 13 Polish chickens from my wife's great aunt who recently passed away. I seperated them the same way she had them when I brought them home. two of the roosters are in pens beside eachother. had to seperate them because they liked to fight. anyway, they lay on the ground outside like a dog would. i have roosts for them, but they won't use them. They just got through laying down through a thunder storm. went outside to check and they were laying on the ground at the edge of the pen. why would they not roost?

thanks in advance

Greg

If it is hot where you are they are probably trying to cool off. Also they are in a new place and are probably a bit stressed. If they don't roost at night go in and put them on the roost to teach them where the roost is.
