Roosters--to have or not to have

I wish we could have a roo but our town ordinance won't allow it.

Some of you have mentioned candling eggs. I am far too lazy to candle the eggs before we sell them. I read somewhere that if you gently shake the egg, it will never hatch. Is there any truth to this or is it an "old wives tale"? As long as we refridgerate the eggs within a day or so, should we be okay?? I really don't want to crack an egg into the frying pan and have an embryo flop out!:

Our rooster is about 4 or five months old. Still pretty friendly, actually, he is a bit too friendly. I think he might think I am a hen...

Your eggs won't have any embryos in them until they are incubated by either a broody, or an incubator.

You usually don't candle eggs unless they are being incubated.

what a bout some guineas instead of a roo? Im kinda gross out but the thought of a fertilized egg. Could you mix guineas with a laying flock and get eggs from them too? I have 3 RIRs and 3 Barrred Rocks. they were all suppose to be girls instead i got a perfect trio of each.
