Hello does anyone have any thoughts regarding whether roosters or hens provide better meat? I'm ordering several different dual purpose breeds as I don't have an issue waiting a little longer for processing. I have a hen flock and my thought was to purchase 30 or so roosters from these dual purpose breeds such as RIR, BR, orpingtons, etc. Anyone have any issues with that many roosters in the same runs together as well. I appreciate the help.

Come to think of it, hens will always be more tender than testosterone filled rooster that's running, jumping, fighting and scratching.

Depends. I prefer hen meat. Tender and mild. Roosters have a stronger smelling meat(some people like it, some don't…) and can be tough in the leg and thigh. The roosters do get bigger faster though.

So far I've only processed roosters, but I have mixed fifty male and female chicks that only cost me 20 dollars and I plan to process both cocks and hens.
