Hi everyone. I have not asked a question before so I hope this is in the right spot. Came home today and thought my rooster was going to be dead. He had so much blood down the front of him. Found out it is from his wattle. Not sure what happened. I washed him off and tried to put pressure on wattle to stop bleeding. Sprayed it with antibiotic spray. Not sure if it will stop bleeding on it’s own??? It was late so he went to roost with the hens. They are not bothering it. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Comb and wattle injuries may bleed a lot and look scary serious, but they are almost always very minor and they heal up extremely fast.

Years ago, I had a Wyandotte hen with a rooster-size comb that extended far out beyond the back of her head. The others were always pecking and grabbing her comb and twice it was ripped off her head and it was left hanging by a small sliver of tissue. After cleaning the wound and putting some ointment on it and repositioning it on her head, it reattached in just a day.

Your rooster likely got into a disagreement with another rooster or with a hen who wasn't buying what he was trying to sell her. It happens every day in Chicken World.
