Silly Rooster question from a newbie.
My plan is to put my chickens in the coop every night and then let them out in the morning. Will roosters still crow if the light in the coop is subdued?

My rooster crows in the middle of the night when he hears me come home from work - in my experience it all depends on the rooster.

My rooster crows in the middle of the night if the neighbor's dog barks. Then MY dogs want to go out to check the yard security (and bark back at the neighbor's dog). So the rooster crows again....

In other words, darkness does not stop a rooster's crowing.

Mine will crow at or near 5am everyday without fail. He is a great alarm clock. It is good though that he is a Light Brahma and does not have a very loud crow.

My banty roos crow all day long.LOL. silly chickens.
