Right now we have 9 hens and we are hatching (7 in the incubator but who knows how many will actually make it). I’d like to keep one rooster. Which breed have you had luck with personality wise? Someone has said JG roosters are lovely and friendly for the most part, and we have met several super friendly brahma roosters. What is your experience? Maybe it’s just based on the individual and not the breed?

It its mostly dependent on the individual, but breed is part of it. For instance, Orpington roosters are supposed to be nice, but mine is really mean. The breed I've had the best luck with is White Legbar, but those are pretty rare. Brahma roosters are known to be pretty friendly, and if you liked the ones you have met maybe you should choose a brahma. Don't forget that even though certain breeds are known to have friendly roosters doesn't mean that every rooster from that breed is going to be friendly.

What breeds do you have....just a mix or are there specifics in mind?
We have all purebred birds right now, but want to see how some mixes would turn out. Just for fun. Our current hens are SS, SLW, BR, silkies, Ameraucana, australorp, Faverolle and cuckoo marans.
We have 7 eggs in the incubator that will end up being mostly OE’s.
I am really leaning towards a Brahma rooster.

I love my Brahma rooster, he's a very big boy! But he's gentle enough that my husband has taught the roo to jump up and take a chip out of his mouth! I only have one hen right now, a sassy Wynodott girl, and they have been best friends since the brooder despite the size difference.

Real Ameraucana or EE?
Where did you get the OE eggs and what is the cross??

I personally have never had a rooster turn out nice. Seems like they get around the ladies and reach maturity then start to act defensive. I do have a nice silkie roo but its only because I have another dominate roo with him. I'm sure if I got rid of the dominate one he would start to act out too.
