I aquired a rooster that was supposed to be a hen from someone on Craig's list. I just recently learned that she was in fact a he and of course am already quite fond of him/her (Peaches). Peaches has always been very friendly, he is a Buff Orp., and very social. However today when I was tired of waiting for my 2 hens to mosey into the coop I rushed them in and he attacked me! I was shocked! It didn't hurt but it was surprising. I swatted him and he came at me again! I quickly got him shoed inside and that was that. My question is... is this him coming into maturity or was it because I touched the hens? Any help would be appreciated.

He probably thought your rushing his girls into the coop was a threatening maneuver on your part. He didn't understand what you wanted and thought you were going to hurt the girls.
