yep, however. some good knowledge that should be known. a male chicken can be a cockerel as well, if the male has not yet crowed and is not mature, he is a cockerel. If a female has not laid an egg, she is a pullet. so if you have a baby boy chicken a month old, its not a rooster, its a cockerel

A female is a pullet up until she is a year old. Same goes for a cockerel. A male is a cockerel until he is a year old. Eggs and crowing have nothing to do with it.
