I have a plymouth barred rock rooster,I've had for a year. Very gentle, friendly, and docile. I brought another rooster home a black maran. Also about a year old. All they do is fight. Will they ever get along?

Thanks,
Joseychic

Maybe, maybe not. Sometimes they work out their order and do ok, other times it will be nothing but trouble until one is seriously injured or killed. It can be very hard to try to introduce a new, adult rooster to an existing roo since the first one is natually going to be very defensive of his territory, especially if he has hens. The risk of injury is high. I've had least trouble with young roo's raised in the flock, although eventually somebody is going to challenge the older bird. It's just the way it goes. These days I only keep one roo around just for my own sanity.

Do you have enough hens to keep two roosters well occupied? You could break your flock into two groups - with a rooster in each. Your original roo sounds so nice, why did you want to add a second one?

! Great to have you aboard! Sorry about your squabbling roosters. I agree with drumstick - it may have to do with the number of hens - it too few there will be fights.
