roosting at night

Mines done that a few times too, I have to pick him up and put him in the coup.

I was told by an old timer that the only time hens have dominance over roosters is when they roost. Most hens will kick them out, or at least make them move on down the road so to speak. I don't know if this is true or not, but my hens make my rooster sleep outside the roosting boxes. (Its a hard set up to describe.) He seems to understand.

They started this behavior when he started crowing.

So maybe your hens have booted him out or made him feel uncomfortable?

Just a thought.
