Roosting bar space recs and minumum question

It helps to reduce night time roost rumbles while allowing wing space as they hop up.

Mine shuffle to roost in a certain configuration.
The head hen and second in command get prime spots while the lower ranking may squabble a bit before managing to get into their chosen spot.
In the end....every single night for years now...Rudy and Trudy are smack dab in the middle while my poor crooked beaked bird is smooshed between another of her breed and the end of the roost (the wall).
There is only one odd set and that's my lowest ranking California White who no matter what absolutely MUST be next to a specific BSL. Interesting lately is the BSL doesn't seem to be feeling well and is waiting in the run with the CW for me to give her a boost to her spot.

So somewhere in between is the truth for chickens?

They seem to like to have enough room to spread out in peer groups and friend groups.

I need to add another roost so that they can do it more comfortably and maybe bedtime will be more peaceful for everyone and they'll stop trying to sleep in the nests when they aren't broody.
