We are changing our coop a bit and I want the roosting boards lowered a little. I thought I'd read the height is good between 18-24 inches from ground. True? Also if I have one 24" and one in front of that at 18"... what space is recommended between those two? Would they just hop from back roost to front one and then to the ground? I ask as we previously had two roosts angled next to each other in an L shape, so they were all essentially on same level. We have 4 hens and 1 rooster now. Thanks in advance!

Height of roosts can depend on size of coop.
Got pics of your coop?

L shape at same level works great here.

My poop boards are at 30" -- easier to clean the sand -- with the roosts about a foot over that. I have a ramp that they use to get at least part way up to the boards.
