Roosting early!

My standard hens have been going to roost around 4pm. It is winter in Indiana we have been getting crazy weather, but it’s still daylight and they are roosting. My silkies on the other hand stay out until 8pm and it’s dark… I do have a light in the coop that’s on from 5am-9pm (when I open the coop in the morning and close it at night) but no lights in the run area. Anyone have any ideas on why my standard hens roost so early?

If it's getting colder earlier in the day, maybe they're wanting to stay in the coop to keep warm?

Some chickens are more influenced by the natural light amount and temperature. Nothing to worry about, they usually follow there instincts on what's good for them.
