roosting hens days are numbered !

How can I stop a hen from roosting in a nest instead of a pole. Out of ten chickens I have to young buffs that roost in the nest. And they switch nest from time to time and I just as soon put them in boiling water if I can not break the habit.

you can try putting something to cover the nest boxes before they roost, then they will have no choice but to sleep with the others

I've heard that placing 1 gallon containers (filled with water) on the nests at bedtime will help. After a few days they'll get used to sleeping elsewhere and you can stop placing them.
