Roosting in trees and quit laying eggs

In the Brooder

Hello,

I’ve got two hens that are a little over a year old. They get broody from time to time, normally when we’re gone for an extended period to time and they’re locked in the coop/run. This has happened before and they normally snap out of it after locking them out of the coop during the day for a couple days when we’re back.

Right now my issue is they’re going in the coop to eat but it’s been over two weeks after being broody and neither one has laid an egg and now one wants to roost in a tree instead of in the coop.

Maybe I need to wait longer? I’ve been retrieving the one out of the tree every night but that’s becoming a pain as well. The chickens free range during the day.

Any thoughts?
