Even though there was lots of room on the perches, my chickens refused to share them. Often there would be one chicken on the top roost, three on the bottom, and the rest of the hens would try sleeping outside. It was very frustrating moving them into the coop each night. So, I downsized my flock from 8 to 5, and removed the top of the pecking order. Now the highest roost is often empty, four use the bottom roost, and the hen who’s bottom of the pecking order sleeps on the coop floor (getting a poopy butt). I’m at my wits end. Please give whatever advice you have!

Pictures of the inside of your coop will help. What breeds of chickens do you have?
